The Bad Luck Continues

Sadly the bad luck seems to continue here. I just lost Belle Starr last weekend. I don't think my dad had dumped out enough of the bad feed, so it got mixed with good feed. Everything has been dumped out now though. Luckily, I do have a daughter out of the only litter I had out of her, whose actually really nice. She won her first leg at her first show a few weeks ago.
Cover Girl lost the rest of her litter. I think between her and them all being traumitized, they just weren't getting nursed enough. CG will be taking a break before being rebred. She's just now starting to perk back up and eat all of her feed.
In litter news, I had five does due last weekend, however only two had anything. Both Sushi (bred to Stryker) and Aurora (bred to Desperado) had litters. Venus had a false pregnancy, which those are always disappointing, as she made me think that she took.
I did breed three does last weekend, they will be due on December 23rd. They are:
Trelawn Ruby D x Bentley
Sasha x Desperado
Maybelline x Bazooka

Yesterday, I did take new pics of all the rabbits while there was a break in the rain. Website updates should come soon. Here's pics and info on two of the for sale animals.

DDLA-- Showable Blue jr buck, who was born on 7/13/08. Out of Bazooka (Reg/3 jr legs) x Ladybug (RGC/6 legs, 1 RIS). He's a very nicely marked buck, who will do well in 4-H shows. His only bad flaw for his markings, is that his stops are ragged, however have good placement. Type wise, he's a bit weak in the shoulders, and pinched in the hindquarters. He has an excellent head.
DDMA-- Showable Black jr doe who was born on 8/23/08. Out of Rimfire (RGC/14 legs, 1 RIS) x Maybelline (Reg). Marking wise, her saddle could be a bit more straighter, and her stops are uneven. She's nicely typed though.

Yelm Show

The Yelm show was last weekend. The Dutch did better than I expected. Show A under Jan, Revolver was BOV Black for his 4th leg. Show B under Valerie, Rodeo was BOSV Black for his 2nd leg. I had a little Blue jr doe out of Belle Starr that won BOV for her first leg.
In Show A, Pete won BOB with a Steel jr buck. In Show B, he was BOB with a Black jr doe. I believe he won both BOS' also...
For the Silver Martens, the Webb's came up and won BOB and BOS in both shows with their flashy Blacks that just won BOB and BOS at ARBA Convention. Really nice animals!
Nicole and I won BOV and BOSV Blue in both shows (I think, won't know for sure until I get my show report). Only enough for a leg for BOV, which I believe was Stormy.
Show A I judged 73 Mini Lops and 18 English Angoras. I learned some on the breed for the English Angoras from the breeders. I need to work more with the Angora breeds, so I'm able to comment better on them. Show B, I had 125 Holland Lops! I end up being the BIS judge. This was my first time picking BIS for an open ARBA sanctioned show. I've picked for a youth show before, just not open. BIS went to a gorgeous White Mini Satin. RIS went to a very nice Black New Zealand of Jean's.
Lacey went to a new home, she is now owned by Garret, a youth breeder.
I currently only have two rabbits for sale. Both are showable juniors, a Blue buck (Ladybug x Bentley) and a Black doe (Maybelline x Rimfire).
A bit of bad news, the last few weeks have not been good for my rabbitry. I had a bad batch of feed recently. It did not effect any of the Dutch, however I lost two of the Silver Martens. Marten, who was from our first litter with the breed, and Nicole's and my favorite. He's been our top herd buck. His son Stormy will be taking over as the next herd buck. Then a few days after losing him, we lost his daughter Sabra. She was our first BIS winner with the breed. Luckily we have her son Stormy, and three daughters of her's to replace her with.
Then Saturday night when I returned from the show, I discovered something somehow got into one of my cages, and killed three of my babies from Cover Girl's two week old litter. It left another one lame, which passed yesterday. CG has 4 babies left. With the way they were killed, we suspect it was a weasel. Both of my current two litters have been moved to a different building that is a bit more secure, and are in top condos. I have several traps set up, incase it comes back.
