I've currently been having issues with our computers, making the only working one a really old computer that only has windows 98. I'm unable to get in to update my website from this computer, so decided to start a blog that I can put updates on until my laptop gets fixed (has problems with overheating, and shuts down on me after only 20-30 minutes of being on it). Needless to say, my website is currently out of date.
In big highlights for the rabbits, this has been a great month for the Martens! At Bremerton on the 17th, Robin won Breeders Choice and Best in Show! I took her down to the Portland show this last weekend with me, and she won the Master Breeder competition and Reserve in Show, this being her 2nd RIS (also won one at the Yakima show last month). Nicole and I are hoping she holds her coat for state. I'm unable to get pics uploaded on here, however Nicole has been updating the SM website (http://geocities.com/silverstreakrabbitry/), which has a pic from our BIS on it.
My Dutch numbers are down. I've been trying to keep my show numbers down, as I am now judging at most shows I go to, and my dad is the one to put them on the table for me. At Monroe on the 3rd, Revlon (Blue jr doe) was BOS for her first leg. She's a super typey doe that I have coming up. At Bremerton, Cover Girl (Blue sr doe) was BOS for her first leg, another really typey doe. I bumped her up to sr so her and Revlon don't cross each other out by being in the same class. I only took four Dutch to the Portland show, not expecting many Dutch to be there. There were only 3 others, owned by one breeder, so not enough for a leg. In show A my little Blue jr buck was BOB. In show B, Revolver (Black jr buck) was BOB, and even got an honorable mention. Cover Girl was BOS.
Next show is the WA State Covention, my favorite show of the year. I am now taking unrefundable 50% deposits on for sale animals that can be held until that weekend. I can *try* to get updated pics of the listed rabbits, if needed. Rabbits that are currently for sale:
Rascal (Black sr buck, RGC/3 legs)- sale pending to Cheyenne
Eva (Black sr doe, 1 leg)- sale pending to Cheyenne
DDRB (Black jr buck)- out of Stryker (RGC/20 legs, 3 BIS) x Siren (RGC/4 legs)- His saddle is a bit bias. He has an excellent left stop, however the right is bias and drags into the toe (does not connect). Otherwise he has nice markings. He's a nice typed buck, just weak in the lower hindquarters.
DDZA (Black jr buck)- out of Stryker x Zoe (RGC/ 3 legs)- is from the same litter as Revolver, which is a repeat breeding of Vixen. His saddle is a bit bias, and is ragged on his undercut. Has excellent head markings (Zoe kids always do). He's weak in the shoulders and lower hindquarters. Has excellent depth, and is nice and short in body.
DDPB- (Black sr doe- just 6 months)- out of Bentley (RGC/6 legs) x Porshe (RGC/3 legs)- Stops are uneven, otherwise great markings. A bit weak in the shoulders. She's super wide, and has excellent hindquarters, nice and smooth.
DDE6- (Blue jr buck)- out of Desperado (RGC/7 legs) x Delaney (RGC/5 legs)- Has great markings, however has a high head mount and longer front legs, where he does not want to pose. He peaks a bit too soon in the hindquarters, causing him to slope off.
Blue jr doe (not tattoo yet, only 8 weeks old)- out of Kooper (RGC/4 legs) x Lila (reg/1 leg)- Is super typey! Has good markings other than a bad undercut, and her right cheek is a bit high.
I am currently debating about selling both Rimfire (Black buck, RGC/14 legs, 1 RIS) and/or Desperado (Black buck, RGC/7 legs). Both have produced Grand Champions for me. If interested in either email me, might make me make a decision quicker...
