The Bad Luck Continues

Sadly the bad luck seems to continue here. I just lost Belle Starr last weekend. I don't think my dad had dumped out enough of the bad feed, so it got mixed with good feed. Everything has been dumped out now though. Luckily, I do have a daughter out of the only litter I had out of her, whose actually really nice. She won her first leg at her first show a few weeks ago.
Cover Girl lost the rest of her litter. I think between her and them all being traumitized, they just weren't getting nursed enough. CG will be taking a break before being rebred. She's just now starting to perk back up and eat all of her feed.
In litter news, I had five does due last weekend, however only two had anything. Both Sushi (bred to Stryker) and Aurora (bred to Desperado) had litters. Venus had a false pregnancy, which those are always disappointing, as she made me think that she took.
I did breed three does last weekend, they will be due on December 23rd. They are:
Trelawn Ruby D x Bentley
Sasha x Desperado
Maybelline x Bazooka

Yesterday, I did take new pics of all the rabbits while there was a break in the rain. Website updates should come soon. Here's pics and info on two of the for sale animals.

DDLA-- Showable Blue jr buck, who was born on 7/13/08. Out of Bazooka (Reg/3 jr legs) x Ladybug (RGC/6 legs, 1 RIS). He's a very nicely marked buck, who will do well in 4-H shows. His only bad flaw for his markings, is that his stops are ragged, however have good placement. Type wise, he's a bit weak in the shoulders, and pinched in the hindquarters. He has an excellent head.
DDMA-- Showable Black jr doe who was born on 8/23/08. Out of Rimfire (RGC/14 legs, 1 RIS) x Maybelline (Reg). Marking wise, her saddle could be a bit more straighter, and her stops are uneven. She's nicely typed though.

Yelm Show

The Yelm show was last weekend. The Dutch did better than I expected. Show A under Jan, Revolver was BOV Black for his 4th leg. Show B under Valerie, Rodeo was BOSV Black for his 2nd leg. I had a little Blue jr doe out of Belle Starr that won BOV for her first leg.
In Show A, Pete won BOB with a Steel jr buck. In Show B, he was BOB with a Black jr doe. I believe he won both BOS' also...
For the Silver Martens, the Webb's came up and won BOB and BOS in both shows with their flashy Blacks that just won BOB and BOS at ARBA Convention. Really nice animals!
Nicole and I won BOV and BOSV Blue in both shows (I think, won't know for sure until I get my show report). Only enough for a leg for BOV, which I believe was Stormy.
Show A I judged 73 Mini Lops and 18 English Angoras. I learned some on the breed for the English Angoras from the breeders. I need to work more with the Angora breeds, so I'm able to comment better on them. Show B, I had 125 Holland Lops! I end up being the BIS judge. This was my first time picking BIS for an open ARBA sanctioned show. I've picked for a youth show before, just not open. BIS went to a gorgeous White Mini Satin. RIS went to a very nice Black New Zealand of Jean's.
Lacey went to a new home, she is now owned by Garret, a youth breeder.
I currently only have two rabbits for sale. Both are showable juniors, a Blue buck (Ladybug x Bentley) and a Black doe (Maybelline x Rimfire).
A bit of bad news, the last few weeks have not been good for my rabbitry. I had a bad batch of feed recently. It did not effect any of the Dutch, however I lost two of the Silver Martens. Marten, who was from our first litter with the breed, and Nicole's and my favorite. He's been our top herd buck. His son Stormy will be taking over as the next herd buck. Then a few days after losing him, we lost his daughter Sabra. She was our first BIS winner with the breed. Luckily we have her son Stormy, and three daughters of her's to replace her with.
Then Saturday night when I returned from the show, I discovered something somehow got into one of my cages, and killed three of my babies from Cover Girl's two week old litter. It left another one lame, which passed yesterday. CG has 4 babies left. With the way they were killed, we suspect it was a weasel. Both of my current two litters have been moved to a different building that is a bit more secure, and are in top condos. I have several traps set up, incase it comes back.

Correction & litters

Just got my show report for the Monroe show, and found out my dad told me the wrong rabbit won BOS in show A. He said Piper won it, when it was really Revolver. Verified with another breeder already, just to make sure the show report wasn't wrong, lol.
I have 3 does due within the next few days-- Ladybug, Sasha, and Cover Girl. All are bred to Rimfire.
Bred 5 does today:
Aurora x Desperado
Sushi x Stryker
Revlon x Revolver
Zoe x Bazooka
Jill's Wild Blue Venus x Bentley

Kennewick Show

Kennewick show didn't go so well for the Dutch. Nobody got any placements worth mentioning. Show A, BOB went to Beth with a Gray buck, BOS going to Pete's Black doe. We left before Dutch were finished in show B, so not sure who won. Were able to get home by 8pm! (almost a 4 hour drive for us)
For the Silver Martens, in show A one of our Black jr does won her class of 5 and BOSV, however there were only 2 breeders. Stormy was BOV Blue for his 4th leg.
For show B, our Black doe was 2nd, and Stormy was BOV again, for his 5th leg. Rainy was BOSV Blue, and should get a leg.
Maryann was BOB both shows with a Black buck. Show A, a Blue doe was BOS, not sure of the owner. Jean was BOS in show B with her Black doe from last week.
Next show is Yelm on November 8th. I'll be judging at it.

Monroe Show

The Monroe show last weekend was a good show. My rabbits surprised me and did better than I expected. I only showed four Dutch, three of which each won two legs!
Revolver (Black sr buck), despite being in a horrible molt, won BOV both shows. These are his second and third legs, so he's now a Grand Champion!
Rodeo (Black jr buck) was 2nd place in both shows
Piper (Blue sr doe) won her class in both shows. In show A, she also won BOSV and BOS! She is now a Grand Champion also!
It was DDAC's (Blue jr doe) first show, and she won her class of 9 in both shows, for her first two legs. In show B, she was BOSV, beating out Piper.
Show A BOB was won by Vicki with a Chocolate buck, with BOS being Piper.
Show B BOB went to Pete's Blue jr buck that won big last weekend, with BOS going to his Black doe.
There were 15 Silver Martens. Stormy was BOS both shows, so he should be getting two legs, which means he's now granded! Rainy was BOV show A, and BOSV show B. Have to wait for my show report to know if there's enough for a leg.
Jean won BOB both shows with a Black doe.
I end up judging at the show. Had all lops in show A (French, English, and Mini's). Show B, I only had Mini Rex.
Morgan went to live with Mike & Leslie.
Tri-Cities show in Kennewick is this Saturday. We'll be leaving Friday afternoon. We're carpooling with Reni and her dad (who btw just worked her last show for her registrar's license!). I get to be just an exhibitor at this show, so am looking forward to that. Rimfire, Porshe, and Tessa will all be going with a transporter to Spokane, so their buyer in Montana can pick them up. Nicole and I also have three Silver Martens leaving at this show to go to convention, to meet up with their buyers from Wyoming.
Speaking of Silver Martens, we currently have two litters, a total of 16 babies. Five of those are Blacks! We will have several available around Thanksgiving.

More updates

Last weekend was the Bremerton show. Didn't do so great, but it was expected. Revolver was 2nd of 3 both shows. Rodeo was 3rd of 5 in show A, and 2nd in show B. In show A, first place went to DDRC, a rabbit I sold last month for his second leg. Piper was BOV in show A for her second leg. Show B she won her class, but am not sure if there were enough breeders for a leg...
In show A- BOB went a Chocolate buck owned by my boyfriend's sister Allison. It was her first win with her rabbits, so she was excited. BOS went to a Black doe of Pete's. Allison's buck was a honorable mention in show.
In show B- BOB went to a young Blue buck of Pete's. not sure who won BOS, but it probably was Pete. Pete's Blue buck was Reserve in Show.
For Silver Martens, Stormy was BOB both shows, and Rainy was BOS both shows. Sadly there were only 4 Martens, so we were one short for a leg :(
A Netherland Dwarf that I picked for BOB in show A won Best in Show in show B, which was fun to see my placements consistent with the other judges. It was a gorgeous rabbit!
Saturday is the Monroe show. I need to get my entry together, since today is the deadline. I will be showing Revolver, Rodeo, and Piper again, along with two Blue jrs, a buck (Bentley x Ladybug) and a doe (Bentley x Sasha). Then Silver Martens, will have Stormy and Rainy again. Need to take a look at the two Black jr does, to see if I'll be entering them in it.
On the litters front, Zoe and Sushi are due today. Trelawn Ruby D, bred to Bentley, had her litter this morning. This is my first litter from Ruby, since she came to live here, so am excited to hopefully get something nice out of the litter :)
DDUC, a Blue sr buck, was sold to a 4-H kid. I currently have 3 proven brood does still for sale, Morgan and Lila, who there is info on my for sale page for them. Then Lacey is also for sale. She is a Blue who is about 3 years old, and a great mom. She is the dam to Tessa (RGC/5 legs). If you go to the my rabbits page of my website, you can see pics and info on her.
I also have 2 Blue jr does for sale. Both have a few marking flaws, but are super typey animals! They are both about 7 weeks old.

Updates

It's been awhile since I've updated this. Been busy here. Been judging at several fairs in the last month. This last weekend I just did both 4-H and open at the state fair. I guess I got labeled the "hard judge" by the kids for fit and show, lol.
I have three litters due within a few weeks. Not sure of the exact date, since I'm not by my calendar. Zoe, Sushi, and Trelawn Ruby D are all bred to Rimfire. Everyone is being bred to him right now, as he will be leaving at the Kennewick show to live in Montana along with Porshe and Tessa.
I have about 3 litters that are 5 weeks old right now, then both Maybelline and Belle Starr have their first litters who are about 3 weeks old.
Next show is Bremerton on the 27th. The following weekend is Monroe, and the next weekend is Kennewick. I'm judging at Bremerton, then am a back up judge for Monroe. I don't have much to show at these shows however... It looks like I might only be showing 3 Dutch: Piper, Revolver, and Rodeo. My other does I had been showing (Cover Girl, Revlon, and Aurora) are all in horrible molts, so will be getting bred soon. I do have two young juniors coming up, but they still have baby coats. Kennewick, I wouldn't normally be going to, but I have the trio to deliver to go to Montana, plus Nicole will be there so we can swap out rabbits.
For Silver Martens, Nicole and I have two for sure, Stormy and Rainy. The two Black jr does don't quite have coats yet, will probably put them in Kennewick though. Both have awesome type. One of them will be for sale. At Kennewick, Pasha, Ra-Dan's Alli, and Riddle's Flicka will all be leaving to make their trip to convention, then to live in Wyoming with their new owners.
